I’m pleased to report that Building the Zoukei-Mura Ki-45 Kai Tei in 1/32 Scale, by Jan Gabauer, has reached the first draft stage, and is on schedule for an earlier-than predicted release some time in the next few weeks. No preview pages just yet, as they’re subject to change during this phase.
Stay tuned for more news about a specific release date and pricing as we work on the revision phase of the project!
We’re pleased to announce that our latest build guide is now in development! Building the Zoukei-Mura Ki-45 Kai Tei in 1/32, by Jan Gabauer, is already at first draft, and is on schedule for release some time in Q3 2020.
Jan Gabauer delivers his third Build Guide for KLP, and as the title suggests, he tackles Zoukei-Mura’s impressive 1/32 scale Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu (Nick) kit.
Jan takes you through the building and painting of the model, and turns out his usual fantastic result. He also provides a mini-tutorial on his approach to paint chipping, and we include the usual appendices of aftermarket and reference products.
Stay tuned for more information about pricing and a release date!
I’m pleased to inform you that the first draft of our next book, Building the Fly Arado Ar 234 in 1/32 Scale, has just been completed. The book is currently sitting at 156 pages, and features two builds of the Fly 1/32 Arado Ar 234 kit by Kent Karslen, along with a brief kit review, and appendices containing lists of applicable aftermarket products.
In the book’s first build, Kent super-details the kit—including engines from the Trumpeter Me 262—and places it in a superb diorama setting that includes a base made from real concrete!
For the second build, Kent converts the Fly kit to the 4-engine V6 prototype. This involved carving and moulding new engine nacelles, narrowing the fuselage and canopy, and scratch-building a take-off dolly. Posed with the Zoukei-Mura Kettenkrad and some crew figures, it makes for a striking model indeed!
The final release date and pricing are yet to be determined, but the revision process from here on out shouldn’t take too long. Please stay tuned for further updates as they come to hand!
We’re currently about half-way through the first draft of the new Arado Ar 234 book, so I thought it might be a good time to introduce the author himself: Kent Karlsen. Please check out Kent’s new author profile on our website:
I’m pleased to announce that, after an 8-month hiatus, work has finally begun on our next title: Building the Fly Arado Ar 234 in 1/32 Scale, by Kent Karlsen. Kent builds not one, but two examples of the Fly 1/32 Ar 234 kit, turning one into the V6 4-engine prototype, and the other into a fantastic Ar 234B-2 maintenance diorama.
The book’s bonus build sees Kent replace the kit’s Jumo engines with BMW 003 units, before adding an additional pair of BMW engines to produce the V6 prototype.
The book will detail how Kent tackled both of these builds, including all the aftermarket products used. Speaking of which, there will be our usual appendices that list all of the aftermarket products available, along with decals, paint masks, and relevant reference books.
Building the Fly Arado Ar 234 in 1/32 Scale is due for release some time in late Q2 or early Q3 2020 as an eBook only. Check back here regularly or subscribe to our blog for updates, sample pages, and a definitive release date!
Thanks to eagle-eyed customer Chris Nicoll for spotting a couple of errors in Jan Gabauer’s book, Building the Revell P-51D in 1/32 Scale. These related to the description and link for one of the Eduard aftermarket products included in the back of the book. This has been fixed, and the book has now been updated to v1.3!
Being a digital publication means this kind of update is very easy to do, and we will continue to update all our books in this fashion any time an applicable new product is released, or we find an error somewhere.
This new update is free to download for anyone who has already purchased this book. If you have an account with us, simply log in and download a new copy of the book from your purchase history. Otherwise, the download link contained in your original purchase notification email should still be valid.
If neither of these scenarios applies to you, and you’d still like to download your updated copy, create a customer account here on the website, and then contact me so that I can associate your purchase with your new account. Once that is done, you can log in and download it from your purchase history.
Due to an oversight on my part (mea culpa!), I’ve had to make a small amendment to our newly-launched book, Building the Revell P-51D-5NA in 1/32 Scale. All new purchasers will obviously get the new version, but if you’ve already purchased the book, you can log in to your account and download it from your purchase history.
Before anyone panics, however, be assured that the amendment does not affect the book’s content, and in fact consists of a copyright attribution for Juanita Franzi’s artwork that I forgot to include in the launch version. My apologies to Juanita for this oversight! Thanks to the nature of digital publishing, this becomes a very easy mistake to fix.
Many thanks to everyone who has purchased the book so far!

I’m pleased to announced that work has begun on our next title in the Build Guide Series! Entitled Building the Revell P-51D-5NA Mustang in 1/32 Scale, it’s written by Jan Gabauer, and as the title suggests, it features the new-tool Revell 1/32 scale P-51D Mustang.

Jan guides you through building and painting the kit, using a small selection of aftermarket parts to enhance the build. Jan finishes the model as “Hurry Home Honey”, flown by Pete Peterson of the 357th Fighter Group, using a combination of the kit decals and an aftermarket set from Zoukei-Mura.

In this 101-page eBook, Iain tackles the Revell 1/32 scale He 219A-7 kit, finishing it to a superb standard. Along with covering the construction, painting, decalling, and weathering of the model, Iain navigates a simple but ingenious way of correcting the kit’s major flaw: misshapen engine nacelles that are set at an incorrect angle.
Along with Iain’s terrific build, the book also features a a review
of the base kit, a selection of photos taken of the real He 219 a NASM,
and a set of appendices covering available aftermarket products and
reference books.
