In this 326-page eBook, Chuck Sawyer builds the Italeri 1/32 F-104G Starfighter kit as a Canadian CF-104, combining it with a modest selection of aftermarket products to produce a stunning model. Along the way, Chuck treats us to tutorials on obtaining a flawless gloss finish, getting the best out of the Alclad range of metallic paints, and how to apply HGW’s tricky Wet Transfer decals.
I’m pleased to report that our very first publication, Building Brick’s Sabre in 1/32 Scale, turns 7 years old today, and to celebrate, we’ve not only updated it to v2.1, but also reduced the price to just 12 Australian dollars for the next 7 days!
The update itself consists of the usual tweaks to layout and typography, and is not considered essential.
Building Brick’s Sabre in 1/32 Scale
Written by master modeller Eric Galliers, this 123-page digital book shows you how he built his award-winning 1/32 scale model of K.J. “Brick” Bricknell’s CAC Sabre. Using the Italeri 1/32 scale F-86F kit as a basis, Eric modifies it to the Avon-powered configuration employed by CAC-built RAAF Sabres, to produce an exquisite replica of Brick’s Sabre as he flew it in 1963.
This a free update for all existing purchasers, and of course new purchasers will always receive the latest version of any of our books.
In order to obtain your free update, simply re-download the book using either the original download link in your Order Confirmation email, or log in to your KLP account and download it from the Downloads section of your profile. If you don’t have either, please contact me and we’ll sort it out.
And of course, if you don’t have this one, for the next 7 days you can purchase it even more cheaply than usual!
In this 209-page eBook, Kevin Futter and Chuck Sawyer tackle the Kitty Hawk Texan/Harvard kit in 1/32 scale. The first build is an out-of-box build using no aftermarket parts and as few modifications to the basic kit as possible. The model is also finished using the kit decals. This build is designed to illustrate what can be achieved using only the kit parts, and highlight any problems with the kit itself.
In the second build, Chuck Sawyer addresses many of the kit’s shortcomings, using a modicum of aftermarket parts and some scratch-building to enhance the accuracy, detail, and realism of the resulting model.

I’m pleased to announce that our very first title (released way back in July of 2017), Building Brick’s Sabre in 1/32 Scale by Eric Galliers, has been given a comprehensive makeover, and bumped up to v2.0! We’ve completely revised the layout on some pages, and tweaked almost all the others, along with some typographical tidy-ups and general spit-and-polish. The price remains at 15 Australian dollars.

“…this is what a model book should be like in this format…” – John Svendsen, Australia
“…it’s excellent. Not only a great how to, but a lot of back story of the Aussy Sabre and the pilot. That said, the real good part is the customer service.” – Chuck Cook, USA
“This is a book written by modeller for modeller and it shows. The text is clear and concise and the pictures crisp. The additional history and words from the pilot really do add to the story of the aircraft. Highly recommended.” – Julien Dixon, Britmodeller review

What was I saying earlier about crossing your T’s and dotting your I’s? Turns out, I jumped the gun slightly with the v1.2 update of Building Brick’s Sabre in 1/32 Scale. One of the only two reference books I could find that covered the CAC Sabre turns out to have never actually been published! I got the story directly from the publisher’s mouth to my own ears, but won’t recount it here. Suffice it to say, this has now caused me to update the book yet again, to v1.3!
